Developing Players in a Structured Team Environment
At Oceania United, our teams are built around balanced development, strong culture and long-term growth. We aim to provide players with meaningful court time, skill progression and a positive team experience throughout the season.
Age Groups
For the Winter season, Oceania United currently fields:
• Under 13 – Players born 2012, 2013 & 2014
(Additional age groups may be introduced as the club continues to grow.)
Team Structure
We aim to maintain balanced team numbers to maximise on-court opportunity and development for every player. Smaller team sizes allow athletes to gain consistent game experience while building strong combinations and team connection.
Team allocations are made during pre-season training, where skill levels, positional strengths and overall team balance are assessed.
Pre-Season & Allocations
Pre-season training provides players with the opportunity to develop skills, build combinations and prepare for the upcoming competition season.
Team allocations are determined following pre-season training and are based on a range of factors, including:
• Skill level and game understanding
• Positional strengths and versatility
• Team balance and combinations
• Overall development needs
Our approach prioritises fairness, transparency and long-term player growth. Team placements are made with the best interests of both the individual and the team in mind.
Parents and players will be informed of team allocations following the completion of pre-season training.
Playing Time Philosophy
At the Under 13 level, development and confidence are key priorities. Oceania United aims to provide all players with meaningful court time across the season to support growth, learning and game experience.
While playing time may vary depending on competition needs, team balance and match situations, our approach is guided by fairness, development and long-term progression.
Selection and rotation decisions are made with the team’s overall development, positional balance and performance in mind.
Maintaining balanced team numbers helps maximise on-court opportunity while ensuring players continue to be challenged and supported.
